Twelve-year-old Kaaron Guillory, a Leonardo da Vinci K-8 School student from Sacramento, was selected to represent California in the VSA arts’ and CVS Caremark “All Kids Can…CREATE!” exhibition, and is VSA arts of California's Artist of the Month for July 2008.

Kaaron's winning piece (Mask, left) was selected through a jury process to represent the state of California in a 50 piece exhibit at Union Station in Washington, D.C. from May 19 - June 8 in conjunction with National VSA arts' Start With the Arts Family Arts Festival on May 30 and 31. The exhibition is now touring Children’s Museums around the country. Stay tuned to the National VSA arts website for more information and an online version of the exhibition that can be shared.

Kaaron created a three-dimensional mask (right) from construction paper which will be part of the exhibit at Union Station. Kaaron enjoyed creating this mask in his VSA arts of California at Sacramento I Can Do That! class because "art is something [he] doesn't get to do very much." Kaaron "had the most fun creating the bandana" on his mask. VSA arts of California is honored to celebrate Kaaron as July's artist of the month.
