Washington, August 3, 2006 — Deanne Ableser (Torrance CA) has been selected as the recipient of the 2006VSAArts Playwright Discovery Teacher Award, establsihed to recongnize techers who creatively bring disability awareness to their classrooms through the art of playwriting.
As this year's award recipient,VSAArts will host Deanne to travel to Washington, D.C., where she will receive the award during theVSAArts Playwright Discovery Evening at the Kennedy Center's Family Theater on September 28, 2006. She will receive a check for the purpose of purchasing related books and other collateral material for her classroom.
The Playwright Discovery Award event will commence with a morning school performance of this year's selected student play, followed by an evening performance, award presentations, and reception.
